“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many DWELLING PLACES (Gk -monē) : if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:1-3)
With regard to this passage of scripture, I propose to you, beloved, that Jesus was not speaking of a heaven with “mansions” on streets of gold, but of a highly complex multidimensional reality which is the Father’s house. In other words, there are many higher worlds (and some lower) than this one which exist in a myriad of different dimensional awarenesses, and Jesus went to the cross so that through His blood and by way of the working out of our salvation we may eventually dwell with Him continually in the highest of these spiritual dimensions. This is what we are working towards.
Many English translators have chosen to use the archaic Old English word “mansions” for the Greek word “monē” (μονή) above, and this seems to have caused a bit of misunderstanding among most Christians today. This is largely because even the Old English word “mansions” does not mean what most English speaking people today think of when they read or hear that word, the Old English “mansions” actually meaning what the Greek word “mone” means, and this is; “a stay in any place; an abode or dwelling place.”
I don’t know about you, beloved, but I just want to know what is true rather be confined to a very limited understanding of what people think and teach as truth, and so, I’ve been pulled from the schools of men’s religion and am given to the Spirit to be led by the Spirit and taught all truth by the Spirit as I am able to receive it (even the progressive revelation of God, His ways and His Kingdom). I believe that this teaching by the Spirit has something to do with the “I will come again and receive you unto myself” part of the above passage of scripture, for to be given to the Spirit to be taught by the Spirit and SANCTIFIED BY THE TRUTH is to receive the Lord and also be received unto the Lord, and this is the only way for us to truly BE where HE is.
Jesus said, “Father, sanctify them by your truth, because your word (YOUR very expression) is truth” (John 17:17) …. and He said, “I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world” (vs 24).
Amen… and amen. That, no doubt, briefly describes the highest realms of the spirit world which we can attain to in Christ, and the way of our getting there.
Bless you all in your understanding of these things.
