“For you had cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the current engulfed me. All of your breakers and billows passed over me.” (Jonah 3:3)
“Water encompassed me to the point of death. The great deep engulfed me…” (Jonah 3:5).
Beloved brothers and sisters, there are some billows and breakers which have come and are coming to a remnant of God’s own, those who are called by Him to be preachers to an evil and an adulterous generation. These trials (also represented by “three days in the belly of the great fish” and the “waters that encompassed me”) are those things that are appointed by God to bring these “preachers” to death to all self, and then bring them into utter obedience to God, no longer any conflict of interest between their soul and their spirit.
When the hearts of these are fully submitted to God, then like Jonah, they also will be cast upon the beach of their true calling, preaching a message to Nineveh, and that with the power and the anointing of a resurrected life.
Beloved, please listen… what I am sharing with you here is what will be the “sign of Jonah” to this evil and adulterous generation, even those who are looking for all kinds of signs of Jesus’ coming or of “the rapture” of the church. I tell you, there will be no sign given, but that of the “sign of Jonah”- a people brought through such a tearing of their self-life that death to the self-life might be attained.
Now, most Christians today don’t want to even hear about such an extreme process, not to mention go through it, and this is because self still reigns in their lives (for the most part) and self flees from that which speaks of its demise and destruction.
But, there is a people in the earth today, beloved, who are going through (or who will be soon taken through) the anguish and the pain of the “dark night of the soul” that death to their self-life might be attained. These, beloved, are the Jonahs of the day, even those prepared by God to preach a word with the authority and the power that is needed to cause Nineveh (even the weak and backslidden “Christian” church system) to repent.
Beloved ones, our nations, our cities, and even our churches are in many ways “Ninevehs” … and the Jonahs are soon coming to them.
