The Kingdom

The Kingdom of God is quite simply this: DOING the will of the Father.

Let’s put it this way …

Jesus came into the world to transform it, and to rule over it by the power of the Holy Spirit. When He was on earth, He had no program or method, no system of religion or organizational structure through which He would accomplish the Fathers will. No. He simply touched and transformed the lives of individuals wherever He went, and He did this through the power of God’s Love, constantly being submitted to the Father’s will.

With regard to us, the commission that was laid upon the church in the first century was to go out and make disciples of all nations and to continue Jesus’ work upon individuals. This is still our commission today, and I dare say that this has nothing to do with groups of people in submission to a pastor or a board of directors — those who formulate and fashion, manufacture and manipulate into being programs and systems of religion that bring men more into religious bondage than any true liberty in Christ.

It seems to me, beloved, that Christendom’s long years of captivity in Babylon have given most Christians a very distorted sense of the ways of the Kingdom of God. It is NOT an externally organized government of men. It is NOT made up of church programs and coffee shops, softball teams, and Sunday barbecues. It’s NOT even made up of evangelical crusades, ministerial conferences, Christian concerts, and “outreaches.” No, the Kingdom of God is simply this: IT IS THE RULE OF GOD IN THE LIVES AND THE AFFAIRS OF MEN BY THE SPIRIT.

This is saying, beloved, that if the work we do (even in Christ’s name) is not inspired by AND ALSO RULED OVER by the Holy Spirit, then it simply is not the Kingdom. Now, I’m not saying that the Kingdom does not manifest at certain times in the midst of such works, just that there is supposed to be AN UNLEAVENED EXPRESSION OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD in the life of God’s Sons.

Now, I’m not saying that I’m doing this fully yet (this unleavened expression). I am saying here though that I know that THIS IS POSSIBLE for us, even now. Think about that, beloved. Meditate on that, as you go about your day today.

Bless you.
