God So Loves The World

I get home from these trips and I sometimes feel very sad … even lonely. It feels as though my heart is broken, and that because I have left behind some people who I have just fallen very deeply in love with …

… from the parking lot attendant whose husband has recently died and who now works three jobs to try to support her kids, to the disheveled street lady who is trying to find her way home in the rain and who drinks from the dregs of the discarded coffee cups that she finds along the way, to the 23 year old dancer whose boyfriend used to beat her terribly to the extent of almost killing her by dragging her down five flights of stairs and who now has been left all alone to try to support her three young kids, to the homeless Asian man who does what he can to get change for a cup of coffee, not that he needs or really wants a cup of coffee, but just because if he buys a cup he can sit in a Tim Hortons restaurant for twenty minutes and warm up just a little bit. I could go on and on and on …

I was sitting on my bed last night (with tears in my eyes) and I was thinking of these beloved people. The Lord then said to me …

“Son, many people in this world are searching for that ‘special someone’ who they can fall in love with and share their life with, and some people even find that, and it is good. But I have not called you to that. No, that is not My plan for you. My desire for you is not for you to fall in love with a ‘special person,’ but rather, My desire for you, son, is for you to fall in love with the whole world.”
